Whitey died yesterday and it was my fault. It all started with boredom. I was just taking a break from reading that Sedaris book when I happened to remember my plan of cleaning Whitey's aquarium a couple days ago. My steps to cleaning were simple; using a small basin + a mug, I scooped the dirty water out until the depth was 1/3 from normal, and replaced it with clean fresh water.
For want of finishing the chore immediately, I poured all the clean fresh water directly from the small basin to the aquarium --- this caused a little 'tsunami' inside. (Later, I would conclude that this probably resulted to Whitey getting nauseated then died thereafter). After the task, Whitey was leaning against the pebbles in the corner -- which I found cute. I surmised it was just sleeping, and told T that it was the only fish I've ever seen sleeping that way.
Proud with my little accomplishment, I went back to finish that Sedaris book and fell asleep.
When I woke up around 7pm past, the first thing that I noticed was the inactivity inside the aquarium. I took a closer look and there! Whitey, still leaning against the pebbles, agape and fins no longer moving. =(
I least expected Whitey to die that way. Rather expected it to die when I left it unfed for four days straight.

Oh no! That's terrible... Personally, I've never been good with fishies. :(
I don't like fishes. I wanna be able to cuddle a pet, you know.
Did Whitey get a eulogy at least?
